I caught these in Fostoria, Ohio a couple days ago. What exactly are they?

Those are Denver Regional Transportation District rail cars. They have steadily been arriving in Denver. They plan on going in service in 2016, March if I remember correctly.

Commuter EMUs for Denver--according to a google search RTD is Denver's transit service. Airport servive?

Those EMUs should be used for the Gold Line through Arvada and the Northwest Rail Line to Westminster in addition to the Airport line.

Still a little curious as to whey they didn't get double deck cars. Seems to be the current trend for commuter based transit. Especially if you're starting a brand new service.

Its really hard to lug your roller bag up to the second level....they are station to airport DMUs. So single level is appropriate.

Similar cars are used by SEPTA in Philadelphia. The plant is near the Walt Whitman Bridge on the southeast side of Philadelphia. You can see car shells inside the building in this Google Maps Street View photo: http://goo.gl/maps/MXQLQ
