Long Distance trains arrived at Chicago Union Station today, March 21, 2015 as follows :  

#4 - 34 mins late. Left Los Angeles 29 mins late. 
#6 - 45 mins late.  
#8 - Left Milwaukee 2 hrs, 26 mins late.  
#22 - Left Saint Louis 4 hrs, 18 mins late. Left San Antonio 55 mins late.  
#29 - 12 mins late.  
#49 - 2 hrs, 50 mins late.  
#51 - 10 mins early.  
#58 - 5 mins early.  

All trains departed their originating stations within 5 mins of "On Time" (or were reported On Time, or early, at some point in their route) except #4 and #22.

Empire Builder arrived into Chicago 2 hours and 28 minutes late. Hope connections were made! This wasn't a good day for said train, and of all days, Saturdays are probably the most important. Course I think if you travel train 8 you can only book on #48 for a train to the East Coast still. Nonetheless, this train needs to return to former good OTP. I believe I saw it leaving Minot Friday evening about an hour + late. So it just continued to lose time and the padding at MSP didn't help that much.

Is the extra train set that was put into service to protect on-time departures from the West Coast still in place? With the train reverting back to its original schedule, technically it wouldn't be needed, but I wouldn't be surprised if Amtrak hangs on to it pending Summer traffic coming!

The northbound Texas Eagle has also been suffering!  

I bet no. 8's been getting consistent again though since that mess that lasted for 2 years!
