Passenger Trains > Amtk 42 Veteran Unit leading No 6 CZ on Thursday.

 At present, the Oakland yard has the Veteran Unit, Amtk 42,  in the leading position on  train 6, departing on Thursday morning, April 16, from Emeryville. Colorado on Friday,  passing Iowa with Illinois arrival on Saturday. Good luck to all.

Hopefully it won't be two hours late into Denver like last Saturday.

They might be- they took an hour & 15min delay in Colfax (COX).

I saw Amtrak 42 as it left the Roseville Depot today so I motored on up to Newcastle to catch itr as it went by on track 2. I had a wait of about five minutes. There was a Union Pacific freight train on a Newcastle siding so I knew that another train would be coming by soon. It wasn't long before Amtrak 200 went by westbound on track 2. The freight train was then released and I was 3 for 3 today.

Some photos of the Zephyr taking the hit in Colfax.  There were 2 freights trapped behind the broken rail up in Gold Run on the #2 track and a westbound Z train approaching on the #1.
Photo 1.  The crew waiting out the Z.  The conductor is wearing the stylish vest so that he'll be looking his best when it comes time to walk down and throw the cross overs. 
Photo 2.  The Z is by, so 6 is off-  crossing over to the #1, 1:15 late.
