Passenger Trains > BNSF Family train on the Stampede SubDate: 06/28/15 16:51 BNSF Family train on the Stampede Sub Author: BrianA BNSF ran a "Family Train" for employees on the Stampede Sub this weekend out past Kanaskat, WA and return. I caught todays train eastbound at Palmer Jct and again westbound at Kanaskat headed back to Auburn. BNSF 8362 was on the east end and 8023 on the west.
Here the 8362 is eastbound crossing the Green River at Palmer Jct, WA on the impressive ex-NP bridge. The dome is the ex-ATSF Bay View.

Looks like the special was in the siding at Kanaskat on the return trip - did it meet an eastbound? Can't imagine that happens very often now with the Iron Triangle operation. Edited 1 time(s). The siding has concrete ties while the main has wood.

I've lived in this area (South King County) since long before BNSF reopened Stampede and never realized that the impressive track at Kanaskat is the siding. Money well-spent!
