Amtrak's Ebay Account
Author: Genesis803

Amtrak now has an Ebay account. They are currently selling pieces of the AEM7s and others. Should be interesting to watch.

If they had held on E units or GG1s, they might balence the budget.

Man I want that seat from an AEM-7, no I'm not joking. A friend used to have an Espee seat from a San Fran commuter GP-7...most comfortable seat I ever sat it.

I'd heard Espee seats and armrests were more comfortable than what was purchased by other railroads.  Your mileage may vary.

That's kinda funny.

Amtrak always had an eBay account, going back 10 years or more. They used to sell discounted tickets and travel packages, usually on an auction. They were also selling "rail sale" tickets on their web site at the same time. Anyone remember those days?

I say they should auction a lunch with Joe Boardman. Let the "market speak" on what people really think about the guy. :-)

Yes I do!
I bid and won a number tickets at a very little cost.  The one Amtrak eBay win that I will always remember was the trip on the Kentucky Cardinal where the highlight of the trip was meeting TO member, timecruncher.

I do!  I was doing my undergrad at that point (BGSU!) and remember picking up these tickets from Toledo-Chicago and back on the cheap.  Excellent!

Looks like they are doing OK with parts off the AEM7s. Much better than throwing this stuff in the dumpster and making no money on it.
