Build a park underground, of course.

Unfortunately, this park will be most attractive to the homeless, but an interesting concept.

Thanks for mentioning this project. The local TV shows Hidden New York and others have featured the space from time to time.

Riders on the J M and Z trains can see the space on the right side of the train, just before going onto the Williamsburg bridge from Manhattan

Like a lot of well-intended projects, this one sounds doomed to be an urban bunkhouse and toilet for the low-lifes.  We're just spending money on all the WRONG things.   Doesn't Philly have one of these?  I don't think it would handle being spiffed up either.

You might be wrong, though. There were lots of nay-sayers for the High Line in NY, and it's a huge success.

They're doing something like this in Washington DC too. DuPont Circle - the old trolley line went under the circle - plan is some sort of art gallery.

I think it will do just fine. There is a population explosion in Bushwick, Ridgewood, WIlliamsburg, and Lower East Side that would appreciate this, and none of them would drive there.
