Back in history near San Ardo there was an agreement with the Southern Pacific that they could lay track on a one persons land if the train stopped there so for many years in Pre Daylight GS- 4 days, a train would call at San Ardo where there is one of many of the Missions Father J. Serra established in the late 1700's.

Phil, Yes there were a number of Missions founded by Father Serra, but none in San Ardo.....the closest being Mission San Miguel (22 miles away) and Mission San Antonio (19 miles away, and nowhere near the railroad).. There is a Mission Soledad, and Soledad is on the SP, as is San Miguel. Until it was discontinued, the SP Coast Mail did stop in San Ardo, as well as Soledad and San Miguel. Perhaps you could tell us more about your story.
