The Cripple Creek was built by Pullman in 1917 in Lot #4466 to Plan #3317 as IC business car #3 (1st), 1 of 3 business cars built in that Lot.  The #3 became USRA #4, returned to IC as #18 (1st), renumbered in 1940 to #8 (2nd), and was later sold to Sheriff Railcar as PPCX #800138 Cripple Creek.

As for the other 2 business cars built in Lot #4466:

#15 became USRA #67, returned to IC as #15, renumbered to #1 (1st), renumbered/named to #9 (4th) Bette Junior, to ICG #9.  When the Columbus & Greenville was spun off from ICG, this car was part of the sale, as CAGY #1/#800160 King Cotton.  C&G assigned the #1 to the Chattooga & Chickamauga, and in 2012 this car was sold to an employee of Iowa Pacific's Saratoga & North Creek, and the car is now stored in North Creek, NY.

#17 renumbered in 1940 to #7 and later acquired by the Monticello RY Museum.
