Date: 08/07/15 07:10 Re: Long Distance Train Arrivals at Chicago Today Author: NKP715 I frequently hear 49 just west of Erie, usually 1 - 2+ hours
late, so problem on east end. Date: 08/07/15 08:16 Re: Long Distance Train Arrivals at Chicago Today Author: joemvcnj I suspect stupid and slow loading procedures and/or CSX dispatching, perhaps reason #2 dealing with reason #1, once crews put the train out of slot.

Reason for lateness of 4(4), the AMTK 42 crapped* prior to Kingman, AMTK 81 took train and dead unit to Albuquerque, where BNSF 4600 was added. Arrived CHI 6:40 late. *STATE OF GOOD REPAIR Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 08/07/15 10:38 by GenePoon. Date: 08/07/15 09:52 Re: Long Distance Train Arrivals at Chicago Today Author: jp1822 With the Boston section of the Lake Shore Limited not running and all sleepers on the headend, the loading should be somewhat easier....but I am sure it still takes them double or triple stops at stations - thus same timing for loading and unloading passengers.
Other than that if the train enters into Erie or Buffalo late, it's rarely - if ever - going to make up time westbound. There was a time, but not with NS also doing work across Indiana....even with about an hour loaded into the schedule with Chicago arrival.... |
