Mulberry man dead after Amtrak train hits car in Dover

(Train is between Washington DC and Baltimore, behind Train 66, as I type this;
over seven hours late)

More like no food left in cafe car, so they had breakfast buns for supper, or they called Quiznos, and Penn Central, uhm, Amtrak gets a avalanche of hate mail.

I was on 52 July 13 when 98 just ahead hit and killed a 36 year old lady demolishing her car too just S of JAX.  Seems like there have been many more such incidents in Florida this year.  Beating the gate or whatever.  I've mentioned in previous posts that I didn't understand why after letting us pass 98 that was on a siding they then held us N of Jax to let 98 pass.  As 52 is a non stop except for servicing train we had to wait behind 98 all of the way North making us 3 hrs late into Lorton.

Or just a longish stop at Washington DC allowing those who want it to go upstairs and get whatever pleases them? When there is a will there is a way. The question is would the relevant people's brains be sufficiently engaged at the time to follow the available solution.

98 is allowed passenger train speeds and should have been running faster than Auto Train,
which operationally is a FREIGHT train and restricted to freight train speeds due to the auto
carriers.

Didn't know the restriction existed.  Thanks.

Most of the CSX territory for 52/53 has three speeds.. passenger, intermodal, and general freight. 52/53 run at intermodal speeds.
