Debris Strike somewhere north of Sacramento disabled the lead engine, so it was set out and a freight unit was sourced.

Only one Amtrak unit for power, usually two. It would appear they had two units elephant style and removed the point unit, good operating practice if so.

Noticed a twenty minute station stop but did not see a freight unit moving around on the D-Cam. Did they add a freight unit at Dunsmuir? Would have been a struggle to get up the grade without a second unit.

Can that one unit climb the south side of the Cascades? That's a long grade!

Main air reservoir was torn off the AMTK 175 by a 14 foot length of pipe placed across the main track.
AMTK 136 took the train to Klamath Falls (thanks for the correction, jdb) by itself.

As reported already, no freight unit was available when the 175 was set out.

It went through Salem, OR at about 20:25 with a freight engine on the point and an AMTK engine trailing.

Portland crew that gets on at K Falls went to Dunsmuir to pick it up.  At least part of that crew was going to die just north of Salem.  Don't know how they work that out.

The freight engine was added at K Falls.  One  AMTK engine  took the train from Dunsmuir to K Falls.

Main Res tank was not torn off. Just some damage to the air drier.
