Passenger Trains > Blue Water Train 365(31) delayDate: 01/31/16 23:03 Blue Water Train 365(31) delay Author: GenePoon Private message asked about delay to Train 365(31), Blue Water,
Port Huron - Chicago. Upon departing Port Huron, lead unit AMTK 36 failed and shut down. Entire train was wyed and AMTK 36 was cut off; train then operated with the AMTK 30 solo. It had multiple penalty brake applications enroute to Chicago. Train operated about 1 1/2 hours late. Account late arrival and inadequate crew rest time, extra board crew had to be called to operate Train 364(31), the return trip to Port Huron, which departed on time and arrived eight minutes early. It operated with AMTK 26 and 29. STATE OF GOOD REPAIR Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/31/16 23:11 by GenePoon. What are "penalty brake applications"? Thanks, Fritz in HSV, AL Date: 02/02/16 06:25 Re: Blue Water Train 365(31) delay Author: joemvcnj Failure by engineer, or a failure in whatever on-board equipment, to respond to a more restrictive signal or speed limit, and the brakes get automatically applied.
