Passenger Trains > NB Coast Starlight leaving LA today

I happened to be near Glendale today when todays NB Coast Starlight left. It had 3 engines on the front, one being a Caltrain painted what looked like and F40. It also had a single level bagage car and 3 single level coaches on the rear. Anybody know what they are moving for? I am guessing the Caltrain engine was at the LA Shops for work.

That was a Caltrans cab car from the San Joaquin pool returning to Oakland after reportedly receiving PTC upgrades in LA. This is now, I believe, the third unit to take the trip down and back on the Starlight. The Caltrans scheme is similar to the original Caltrain motiff under Caltrans management from 1985.

The cars on the back are heading to Oakland for service on the Reno Fun Train.

Here's a shot of one of the cab units crossing State Street in Santa Barbara on its northbound journey back to Oakland last month. The unit that is going north today came south the day after the one pictured arrived in Oakland.

That Cabbage Unit might get Pressed into service. to fill in got the Cabcar
that was damaged near Stockton?
