Passenger Trains > Chicago Met lounge

What is the status of the construction on the new Chicago Met lounge?

It may be held up a bit while the Amtrak IG sniffs thru managers computers that have been involved in the project. Questions about missing assets and contract awards seem to focus directly on the Amtrak Supt in charge of CUS. That would be the same individual that fostered the start-up of a second (pay to use) lounge.

Rumor says actual moneys collected in the new Pay-To-Play coach lounge, and other revenues collected from 
Amtrak passengers, may be involved, too.

Where does Amtrak get these people from?  For a company that has operated hand to mouth for over 40 years, has a crappy reputation in Congress and with a lot of the general public, to see ANOTHER possible piece of internal malvesance is so disheartening.  It makes you wonder why so many of us railfans bother to support the organization!

You get what you inspect, not what you expect. That's management 101.

If you let people steal money, screw around with the time clock, claim phony sick time, steal spare parts or sign for work not done, it's all the same.

Amtrak is always cooking the books, just like NEC is loser.

Amtrak is saying opening the new lounge in this summer.

Fulham....... I think the reason us rail fans support Amtrak is varied......but has one undeniable common denominator.....
It's what we got!!!!!!!! Maybe not perfect..... But what we got!!!
I love em!!!! The Mrs. and me ride them every chance we get, sometimes good, sometimes bad....... ALWAYS a ride on a train!!!!! Makes it a joy whichever it is!!!!!!
