NE Corridor issue?
Author: Chessie1963

My son is on a train to DC from Boston and they have stopped in Trenton.  The conductor says they will be delayed for a "significant amount of time" due to police activity ahead?

Anyone know the story?  I hope to advise him.

Thank you.

He is on train 137, due to depart Trenton at 7:51.  They were just told that they will leave around 8:45-8:50 pm.

NJ Transit is reporting NEC delays due to earlier signal issues and resulting congestion.

Thanks.  But the conductor told them there was police activity, so it might be more than the singla issue.

And problems south of Trenton would be unlikely to affect NJTransit trains (except Atlantic City service, of course).

SEPTA Trenton Line is suspended until further notice, but no further details.

Nothing on Amtrak's NEC Twitter feed; last report there is from MARCH 1 !!!

Don't know if this is part of the problem but there are Amtrak switch problems at North Philadelphia.

SEPTA Twitter feed says there was a medical emergency causing Trenton suspension. Doesn't say where.

Sorry. Misread the post as DC to Boston.

It is a complete mess on either side of Trenton, but mostly toward Philly.  The tracker map lays it out.  Ugly.

As I told my son, welcome to American infrastructure in 2016.  We are third rate.  Officially.  Across most modes, not just rail.  We no longer invest, we just bail out.

Sigh.

If it is a POLICE issue, that would likely be irrelevant.

Per SEPTA : Trenton: Service is suspended until further notice. Alternate service suggestions are available online.
Trenton trains have dropped off the board?

They just told him now it is a signal issue, GenePoon.  Sorry, I should have clarified.

SEPTA just tweeted this:  Trenton: Service has resumed. Train #769 is the first outbound train to Trenton. There is no train service to Levittown.  Gotta give them credit.  With Amtrak if it happens after hours or on weekends, well, it just didn't happen.

:-)

NJ Transit's station board in Trenton still shows 3880 and 3882 delayed in their departure for NY, and shows Septa 776 delayed.  That may change soon.

It wasn't two hours old when this thread started.

Yes. Philly.com reports the train was on its way to Powelton yard and would not have stopped at the Tullytown platform.
