Homeowner worried about nuclear material in replacement BP tunnel
Author: PennPlat

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bs-md-amtrak-bridge-20160502-story.html

Article is full of incorrect information, "trains have to slow from 160 to go through BP tunnel".   However 2 hrs WAS - NYP could/might be possible.  Best N bound time now is 2:50, if you don't mind leaving DC at 4:55A

She is concerned that the mag-lev might poach customers from Amtrak. Which might result in hazmat trains using the tunnel.

I would argue she is more likely to be hit by a meteorite...

Someone needs to look and see if the homeowner was wearing a colander lined with aluminum foil on his/her head.

I walked thru that tunnel when I was at FRA in the early 80s when we were improving clearance for freight trains. Folks on top were whining then. Buy the houses and build the tunnel!
BTW, there's a rail tunnel under the Capitol, which probably very few know about...

Which Balto tunnels can't clear Superliners, the ones south or north of Penn Station ?

Actually it sounds like she had the colander on, but forgot the foil, so the harmful rays got to her brain thru the holes....
