late #3?
Author: zuchrew

At about 17:00 at Fullerton on 6/27/16 I was passed by a late #3 (westbound Southwest Chief, I guess).  Was I seeing things, and if not, what was the reason for the eight hour delay?

Unfortunately, #3 was involved in a fatal collision in Colorado the day before.  See discussion here.

Would it be beneficial to have some Roadrunner commuter crews qualified for this territory if needed in a pinch ? They must be HEP or passenger train certified.

I would think that would run into objections from Amtrak and BNSF Union crews.

The accident took place many miles from RailRunner territory.  There would be little interest in getting them qualified over al that
territory, including Raton and Glorieta Passes.
