Baltimore Penn Station re-development scheme

New Public-Private partnership in the works to renovate Baltimore's Penn Station. A little vague on specifics and exactly what (and how much) private equity will be brought to the table, and how much public funding is in the mix.

Will they hang advertising banners down the walls in the same manner that they have desecrated 30th St. Philly?  A real crime, someone should be shot.

Well, be careful what you wish for...

Pick one:

- Hang commercial advertising banners in public spaces such as 30th Street Station in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Station in Baltimore (and, every other available train station around the world) and accrue revenue from those advertising banners which help pay for the upkeep and revitalization of those stations, or

- Maintain strict architectural integrity of the moment the stations were built and let them crumble or simply disappear because they are too expensive to maintain.

We already lost Penn Station New York and a number of other stations around the country; there is an acceptable middle ground. Money may not be the key to happiness, but it is the key to commercial success which allows us to afford many things without unnecessary or completely unavailable taxpayer subsidy.
