Sunday's RDC Trip on the Reading & Northern
Author: cr2581

Chartered by the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society, the two car special ran from Port Clinton to Tamaqua and back before heading up the Pottsville Branch to Schuylkill Haven, West Cressona and Minersville.

Photos in order are Tamaqua, Schuylkill Haven and Minersville.

Enjoy !

Ditto that ! Especially when they're under their own power.

Nice shots featuring both the RDC's and surviving stations along the way - all former (and restored) Reading Company.

Surprised you weren't shooting the R&N "Wine Train". I guess we all have our priorities!
; )

As for the heritage of R&N's RDC's:

R&N 9166 - Ex-RDG 9166, originally B&M 6305 (Budd RDC3m mail - coach).

R&N 9168 - Ex-RDG/PennDOT 9168, former Maryland DOT, earlier, Penn Central 99 originally NYC M-499. (Budd RDC3m coach rebuilt from mail - baggage - coach). Not to be confused with NYC M-497, the RDC that had jet engines attached for a record setting run before being returned to service.

Do they have the as built Detroit Diesel engines, or have they been re-engined somwhere along the way?
