Coast Starlight at Portland in the 1970's and last week

My wife and I rode the Coast Starlight from Dunsmuir up to Seattle last week. While stopped at Portland I wandered up to the head end and got this shot. The second one I took in the late 1970's with my favorite power.

While many things have changed just to the right and behind photobob, it struck me how little has changed in the photo.  Just a couple of tracks, station platforms and train sheds missing and of course that outside brace freight car just to the left of 618's pilot.

What a coincidence.  You took them both on rainy overcast days!  Nice compasison.

The picture with the 618 shows the clock to read 10:10 I believe. Can't make out the time on the clock that was taken last week?
it would be a real coincidence if the clock had the same time.

Ed, showing photos of the Pacific Northwest in great weather is a no no!  We don't really want people to know great the weather is here most of the time.  We want to keep the PNW to ourselves.
