Passenger Trains > AutoTrain departures getting closer to scheduleDate: 10/22/16 20:47 AutoTrain departures getting closer to schedule Author: GenePoon 52(22) with AMTK 835 and 814 departed Sanford with sixteen Superliners
and 24 auto-racks, 2 hr 12 min late. 53(22) with AMTK 831 and 88 departed Lorton with sixteen Superliners and 27 auto-racks, 2 hr 44 min late. Both trains are expected to lose time enroute; there are still many slow orders resulting from high water damage and freight traffic has still not gotten back to normal yet. Should be around Jax if that's the case
52(22) arriving Sunday morning is expected about 11.30 into Lorton Edited to add that it should be north of Richmond by now (Thanks bobgfla, I can envision people wandering around north Florida looking for a James River bridge) Edited 1 time(s). That's a problem when slow orders etc delay a train up line. The schedules allow some padding, but extensive slow orders will cause crews to time out. The inbound train to Sanford had to recrew about a half hour out on Friday monring, IIRC. My sister was on that train. I had the same experience a few weeks ago. Delays up line had caused the Florence to Sanford crew to time out, so we re-crewed at Deland. The guys didn't waste any time, it was a good hand over. The new crew finished the remaining 20-30 minutes or so trip without problems. 52)22) still enroute, nearing Lorton 12"06P 3'42" late Date: 10/23/16 16:14 Re: AutoTrain departures getting closer to schedule Author: twropr The SILVER METEORs started running on time Saturday, so the slow orders must be being picked up.
Andy Date: 10/23/16 16:30 Re: AutoTrain departures getting closer to schedule Author: Lackawanna484 52 (23) left Sanford about 90 minutes late. That's pretty good, and means they recovered about 90 minutes on the late arriving train. Good job!
53 (23) left Lorton about 30 minutes late, so they recovered some time, too. If the experiences of two trips in the last few weeks are typical, there are very light loads north, and near-peak loads south. So, unloading cars, and cleaning the few rooms which were used will be much easier to accomplish. My sister said there were 335 passengers south on last week's trip. |
