F-125
Author: KDC

The F-125 reveal has long come and gone. We've seen pics here and there but no real working hard vids. There was some noise out there about EMD manufacturing problems but no details. Is anyone out there prepared to enlighten the rest of us on the ongoing mistery. Starved for any details.

As I was driving for work yesterday I thought I saw one at the Metrolink shops parked way off in the corner but I was on the freeway and couldn't get a good look let alone a picture.

For those who don't know or if I have the wrong name for the location it is the area between Riverside and San Fernando Road.  Just above the 110 and the 5 interchange in Los Angeles.

Yes Metrolink F-125 #905 has been in Metrolink shop and hasn't been put in service yet . Looks like it's in Hangar Queen service just like UP#4141 . :)

I was of the opinion that the majority of the F-125's were schedule to be delivered the last quarter 2016. AM I wrong?

Last 1/4 of 2016 began in Sept with one month left ...looks like they're a little late in delivery ..

The last I knew the F125 was not yet certified by the FRA.  That first unit was delivered to Metrolink fro photo-ops, 2nd was delivered to Pueblo for testing/certification.  Anyone know if FRA has certified yet?

As far as anybody knows, UP 4141 is not a hanger queen because it hasn't been run long enough to find out.UP 4141 sits at NLR waiting for Former President George HW Bush to pass on.

From what metrolink released in a board meeting, there is something wrong with the step ladder on the F-125 (905) that metrolink has so EMD is currently working on a new plan to fix this issue.

From what I have heard:
905 has a ground fault, which EMD has not been able to correct.

The test unit at Pueblo has chronic problems, and has not completed the test program.

The F125 was designed by Vossloh, which has been bought by Stadler, and EMD is competitor to Stadler in the US passenger rail market, and subsequently the Vossloh support has dwindled.

Muncie continues to struggle with production and design issues.

EMD is so late, the maximum contractual liquidated damages has already been reached, so EMD will most likely not send anymore units West, until they get their issues resolved.

Mind you, this is all 3rd hand info, but it seems to be pretty accurate.

Sounds like Vossloh/Stadler wants more money for something. Just a guess.

The Vossloh Class 66 that is very similar design to the F-125 EMD is selling and running well in the U.K.. is it not? Being an EMD fan, it's frustrating to see the struggles. I do understand to blaze new ground with technology there are sometimes setbacks. EMD seems to have too many recently. Surely they will figure it all out soon.

Who's telling you to check your Facts out of service, what are the Kool-Aid drinkers from Metrolink sucking money out of the taxpayers.
