Passenger Trains > Notes on my rail journey, part 6Date: 12/06/16 16:29 Notes on my rail journey, part 6 Author: retcsxcfm October 31,2016
Once again in Chicago.I took advantage of the new lounge. They have showers and I wanted to try it.I did.Felt clean again! The weather was not the best and all my sightseeing plans went out the window.Took a little stroll to a Subway for a sandwich and over to a CVS for candy.Still had plenty of time before #48 departure.I always make use of a Red Cap. From the lounge to the train is a least 1/4 mile.I have trouble walking, therefore I need to ride.I was glad to get back into a Viewliner sleeper. November 1,2016 Cleveland.Train OT and my friend was there to pick me up. Off we go to Erie,Jamestown,Medina,Buffalo and parts unknown. Spent the night in Buffalo.Nothing much of interest, but I saw where they made Welch's grape jelly.I could not believe the grape vines I saw.As noted on the model board, visited the Medina Model Layout and Museum.(a must see layout 16X204,5000 cars) Only thing seen at Erie,FEC 800-801 and LPG tank. We came back the night of the 2nd and made our way to the station only to find out they did not open untill 12M.Going back to my friends we watched the ball game until the ninth inning, game tied! He was tired and took me back to the station and dropped me off. Then the rain started.I did not know who won until the next day. November 3,2016 Train 30.late and raining.(the reason I mention this, there is no canopy at Cleveland).I managed to hit the bed about 3:45AM. Later I wake and will continue the story later. It is very clean because they just moved there in June. UJ |
