48 and 448 tonight
Author: mp16

#48 has a "status unavailable" as per Amtrak posting. Perhaps weather and a mechanical issue have caused problems. Track A Train map now shows
48 near Fonda, NY operating at 27 mph. No arrival times posted for Albany or NYP.
Amtrak showing # 448 to departe Albany at 8:53 pm versus scheduled 3:05 pm > ETA Boston(south Station ) 1:15  am(5 hrs., 14 mins. late...MBTA is shut down at that air)
Did the engines have problems. ?..Hopefully it was not a trespasser on the tracks incident

Surprise, surprise -- AMTRAK.com has a service alert with info about this ... attached.  Love it -- a timely alert!

But from other sources (twropr) I am hearing about a car setoff at Utica and now the train seems to be either wandering or stopped down the Mohawk Valley, so we await more details.

#448 now shown to be due at Boston at 1:57 am vs. 8:01 pm scheduled time. Track A Train still has the train at Fonda. Doubt if the new departure time of 9:38 pm
from Albany will be the actual departure time. Better to bus the poor passengers. I hope amtrak's new president really tries to solve some of the LSL's problems.

If the delays are the result of the new double track and signals between Albany and Schenectady, that will make a huge improvement going forward.

Sorta like people crucifying Norfolk Southern for adding new capacity west of Elkhart IN. There were huge delays for months, but the capacity improvement is impressive.
