Amtrak - joining passenger en route

If my wife bought a DC to Florida sleeper ticket and I then wanted to join her in the room in Richmond, would I just need to buy a Richmond to Florida coach ticket?

Not if you want meals. Call an agent and they will take care of this. I did this several years ago and had an agent hook me up.

The price of your ticket should be the regular rail (coach) fare, but you will need a real person to connect you to your wife's room.

You're married to Marion Cotillard?  Impressive!
