Reading the title I though might maybe Amtrak had started to put barbers on their trains...LOL

The "Overland Trail" which is used on LARail's Santa Barbara "Vino Train" has a barber shop on board and on long trips has actually carried a licensed barber. 

This is a pretty nice video, and well stabilized, plus a nice viewing angle, but I guess I'm getting too old.  I can't make the connection between the video and Shave and Haircut.

I think he's referring to the way the horn was blown. Remember the phrase.... shave and a haircut, two bits?

Thanks. I was out there to see the Herzog work train, and this train showed up while I was waiting.

As for the shave and haircut, listen to the horn before the train pulls into the shot.

It was also a nice surprise to catch the consist with all the cars wearing the Surfliner blue paint. Most of the Superliners in the Surfliner pool are still wearing Amtrak colors, but this one has been repainted.

I didn't get it either. But two of the ladies at far right on the platform did as they gave the engineer two fist pumps just as he gave the last two toots.

For us 'old geezers', a hit rock & roll song from 1955 was  poo-poo'd because the beat the drummer played throughout was 'shave & a haircut, 2 bits'.   The name of the song and the artist were the same...the legendary Bo-Diddley.
