Passenger Trains > Three Amtrak Motive Power Generations at NapervilleDate: 02/23/17 05:16 Three Amtrak Motive Power Generations at Naperville Author: SDP40F600 It is Labor Day weekend 1996 and I'm at the Amtrak station in Naperville, Illinois, to photograph the inbound Southwest Chief and the outbound California Zephyr. No. 4 arrives with a not unusual motive power consist for the time, but which would be out of the ordinary today. Leading is a P40DC in its from the factory livery followed by a P32-8 in its original livery and an F40PH in the Phase III livery. In this image the train is departing the station and will cross over to the center track on the Burlington raceway. Next stop is Chicago Union Station and the end of the journey.
