Passenger Trains > AMTK 4 Screwed again

Now what ? Lost two whole hours trying to get from ABQ to LMY.
This train departed LAX on time yesterday.  Are there issues with the train ?

     Yes, it is late for some reason. We have ridden 3 and 4 many times and its arrival where-ever we are getting off at is mostly no bother to us. We make contingency plans and rarely have to use them. I understand  this can be the way it is sometimes. Enjoy the ride and if'in you ain't on the train don't worry about it.

More than likely meeting a Southbound Railrunner and held there for 3 as well.

A poor way to run this railroad. Conections at Newton and KCY are blown now. What about Chicago connections?   They should expedite 4 over 3
if given a choice by NMRX.

It's really the BNSF transcon Kingman to Gallup that is putting #4 behind!
They have to get out of Abuquerque before 1:30pm or else they are screwed!

As of 10p, MDT, the referenced train <4(23)> has lost nearly an hour between Raton, NM, and Trinidad, CO.  Will soon be five hours late.  I doubt the delay can be blamed on BNSF freight interference or NMRX commuter trains.

BNSF has a lot of freight traffic and they try to expedite 3 and 4 the best they can, NMRX just cares for their commuter trains and screw everyone else!

Surely you jest.  What would 90% of Trainorders members do with their lives if they couldn't obsess over the on-time performance of a train that they aren't even riding?

That's just it, a lot of us are current or retired employees.  It's personal!

he spent his life sheparding pax the best he could, under amtrak's and santa fe's direction, which had high standards, to watch nmrx can #4 day after day is disheartening.

I wonder if retired Greyhound drivers have a forum to monitor and comment on current on-time bus performance and operations?

there are bus fanatic sites out there, but they don't quite garner the same nostalgia to us, as the route of the super chief, train of the movie stars, or else you would be doing bus rollbys in paso robles or wherever.

Haha, yeah, but I wouldn't be so quick to discount the bus roll-bys.

I've seen pictures of some of those bus events, and it sure looks like they have some fun lining up their coaches for pictures.

And yes, I suppose I am a closet bus foamer on some level. ;-)

scenic cruisers were great, been on many music coaches,at 2 million each you not exactly slumming it..

the guy that had the UP bus would get a lot of attention at rail events,  pictures of busses, it is harder to convey speed in pics with them, they didn't have alco powerplants, not

as long to compliment the landscape,  many of us maybe are  closet  landscape foamers..

But but but there aren't many (any?) freight moves between Albuqueque and Lamy.

i saw a tank car in tow with a couple geeps pretty far north of abq in roadrunner territory short of hwy25

In all the years I have ridden #4, I have yet to make the morning River Runner connection. I sat in KCY until the afternoon train once--never again. I called Enterprise 15 minutes before we pulled into KCY. They were waiting for me at the station. I rented a car drove to St Louis and was back in KCY before #3 came through on the way to LAX! I would have unable to conclude my business if I had waiting for the afternoon train. I would have had to spend the night in St Louis.

Yeah but Metrolink does a better job than NMRX!
