Amtrak Surfliner Low-level set cycling from LAX-SBA-SLO?
Author: PasadenaSub

My brother wants to take a trip from LA to Santa Barbara or SLO, and wanted me to ask what the current cycle of the Surfliner low-level set (Amfleet/Horizon) is.  Anyone care to share which trains and days the set can be found on north of Los Angeles?

Thanks for any info,

Rich

Since the schedule change last year, the low-level set typically shows up on the 761/790 trip to San Luis Obispo every third day. Typically, but not always. Sometimes, especially recently, it will show up on the second day.

I've been on the road since Friday, so I have lost track at where we are in the cycle today.

It is programmed to go to SLO   Wednesday, March 29th.

The sets can get changed out if one of them goes B/O, so it can be day to day.

Weekends of track construction does not have the low level set operating at all.  But construction should be over with until this Fall,  hopefully.

I was wondering the same too, as I might be scheduled on 1790 (the weekend version) later this year.  I prefer the surfliner version and not the horizon version.
