Illini

I just watched the Illina depart Chicago and it was a mix of Horizon and Amfleet equipment with a heritage dinner and viewliner sleeper on the back.

Extra cars are in the train to meet CN's minimum-axle requirement for Amtrak trains.

And to imagine that the diner could be serving real food to the patrons on
LAKE SHORE #48!

Oh, but don't you know?? Those diners were removed from service because they "cannot" be repaired.

What utter B.S. Amtrak lies to us and the public about these dining cars. They simply do not want to repair them. Somehow VIA Rail has the same Budd diners running every day across the continent.

Just because the diner is road worthy doesn't mean that it is certified for occupancy or has working hvac even, the trucks are probably the part of the diner that still works. The viewliner sleeper is an odd choice though.

Maybe the plumbing of the Viewliner is not working !

No parts or a real desire to fix it and bring in some real revenue !
