word on the street is CAF is spitting out 2 Viewliner Diners for pickup this weekend and a special move is called out of Albany for the pickup ... what say you sir ??? ...

Absolutely!

The Florida route (except for the Lakeland/Tampa destinations) is served by a train with full dining.

The Lake Shore Route, from NYP to Cleveland is not served by any train with full dining at the present time.

I guess the S-line stations in the Carolinas no longer exist.

While I agree the LSL needs it's diner back, the Silver Star, 91/92 is a much longer ride, in the neighborhood of 30 hrs, compared to the Lake Shore's 18 hours. A passenger boarding at NY Penn station traveling to Chicago will use the diner(assuming they will) for only 2 meals, dinner and breakfast. If that same person boards the Silver Star in NY and travels to Miami, or even Orlando, They would use the diner 4 times(lunch, dinner, breakfast, and lunch). My point being that only 2 meals in the diner light is more tolerable than 4 meals in a lounge car. Then again I also agree with those who argue that the LSL should get the diners first since no NY to CHI train has a diner at all. This probably is all a moot point anyway since the Star's diner was permanently removed last year. It's still nice to debate what could happen....

Just a little update. The cars should be on Wednesday's Silver Meteor arriving at Hialeah on Thursday. Once they get there, these cars will be inspected, if they pass they'll go into service almost immediately. I think in service by May 5 is definitely possible, the 12 is highly probable. Though I am basing that on the in servicing of the one diner they have now.
