Passenger Trains > BART passengers robbed by gang of 50-60 teens 4-22-17-Coliseum

I only just now (Mon. morn., April 24, 2017) found out that
many BART passengers were robbed Saturday night (April 22)
around 9:30 pm by a gang of 50-60 teens, who got on the
train at the Oakland Coliseum stop -- a notoriously bad
area -- by jumping the fare gates. This gang of thugs beat
up at least two passengers, who needed medical attention for
head and facial wounds.

There has been a recent string of robberies on BART trains.

I had no idea any robberies had happened on any BART trains.
How awful!

Time to put a cop in each car, and at each fare-gate area, and
stop this awful crime wave on BART. Man, am I EVER GLAD I do
NOT have to ride BART nowadays!! I really feel very sorry for
all the people who have no choice but to ride BART and for all
the employees who cannot stop this crime wave.

Are they covering for their age or ethnicity?

A Bart Cop with a GUN on the platform to meet every train that calls in Oakland should have a sobering effect, you would think. It may well pay for the cop's salary and pension in the long run.

This should be investigated as a riot, albeit short lived.

When they read that radicals in Berkeley beat up and silence any opposition at UC-B, is it any wonder that they think there are no boundaries for behavior? No one gets arrested; no one goes to jail; and excusses are offered for their behavior.

This is a well known area with heavy crime/drugs/gangs etc. and locals know to avoid it all costs especially after dark. Sadly while the video will no doubt allow some of them to be ID'd not much will happen to them as they'll plead poverty/victim hood as usual. The only solution is to have a well armed cop on every train and 2 on after dark.

Whenever we needed to move any of our PV's through similar areas around Philly or Baltimore we'd post a prominently visible employee equipped with a 12 gauge pump shotgun on both ends of the string with orders to shoot any attempted boarders. Word got around quickly and other than a rare broken window our equipment got through safely.

These California hoodlums know they can get away with murder and thus this behavior.

The whole bay area is totally radical from the government down. It needs a clean sweep from Oakland over to and including the city.

Forget a BART cop with a gun, restore 2A rights to California citizens and let them arm themselves. This kind of crap doesn't happen in free States where the bad guys have no idea which good guys are armed. The idiots in Sacramento and on the SF City council won't be happy until every law abiding citizen is unarmed, and the consequences will be disastrous. Another Chicago.

I'd bet if one or two of the passengers had their own weapon, this wouldn't have escalated so quickly.

These young thugs know what they can get away with.

Let's just hope nature takes it's course and they kill each other off before harming more innocent people.

That's California. No penalties for many crimes.

Grocery stores are being swamped by thugs who clean off shelves and split. No consequences except higher prices. Moonbeam wants fewer in prison. Now BART is a target. It'll happen again.

It's the local political agenda of re-distribution of Wealth.

Something should be said about the local news not picking this up until Monday 11:00 am.

+also agree with many of the other comments. In most societies there would be a heavily armed sweep of the stations and the trains.

Glad I live in flyover country. Police are helpless, if they try to stop people of certain ethnicities, riots break out. Police are handcuffed, pardon the pun.

BART police are useless as you never see a cop on a train. Ever since an officer shot and killed the ex-con by Fruitvale years ago they have no desire to confront anyone.
