Passenger Trains > Amtrak Tests Siemens Charger Out of St. LouisDate: 04/25/17 09:38 Amtrak Tests Siemens Charger Out of St. Louis Author: fatnrat Per a friend of mine, Amtrak has begun testing a Siemens Charger loco out of St. Louis to Kansas City. They should also eventually test it on the St. Louis-Chicago corridor. They are running the first test train today west to KC on the UP Jeff City and Sedalia Subs.

Marty Harrison Knob Noster, MO Date: 04/30/17 04:23 Re: Amtrak Tests Siemens Charger Out of St. Louis Author: MaryMcPherson Not special certification as such. An engineer has to be qualified on any new locomotive, though. Once they have gotten familiar with the new equipment, a road foreman signs off on them and they're good to go. It's similar to getting qualified on new territory.
