...It was NJ Transit's turn to break down.

NJT dual-mode Train 3363 to North Jersey Coast Line lost AC power in C
Interlocking on east LIRR end of Penn Station. Ordered to start diesel,
enter station, load and depart. Police restricting passenger access to
Penn Station because of crowding.

Perhaps as a sign of the state of confusion in NY/NJ, the NJTransit Next
Stops site has a red banner at the top with lettering that reads,
"attention passengers due to cat in airy problems. All eastbound and
westbound trains are subject to 30 minute delay."

I hope the cat got down.

No crowd restrictions at 6pm, but the smell of diesel exhaust is everywhere. NJT dual powered loco on train 3373 came out of the east river tunnels under diesel power.

Diesel exhaust is becoming more commonplace at Penn Station. Over the past few weeks I have observed a lot of Empire Service trains not switching over to the third-rail.

Three possible suspects in the cat caper:
Auto typing, that tries to anticipate words on a "smart" device.
Voice recognition software.
Hapless message data entry employee.
But I had a little chuckle.

Reminds me of the time I was watching close-captioned local news in an airport and the scrolling caption bar at the bottom of the screen identified the guy delivering the weather forecast as a "meaty urologist" instead (presumably) as a meteorologist. 

He he was kinda heavy set...

I have heard of that happening frequently because a lot of the unrebuilt 700's have some issue with the third rail system not working.

it's time to call all the Ex Pennsy and New Haven workers back.

How's the rebuild process coming along? Haven't heard about that in quite a while.

When I saw crowds like that or if police restricted me from entering, I simply folded went to Keens or Uncle Jacks for a nice steak and beer.

Meanwhile all those critical to the current administration
say all these MECHANICAL breakdowns are a "wake up call" to
fix the INFRASTRUCTURE. Der.

They need to get their facts straight before jumping the gun,
lol - no pun intended.
