Passenger Trains > New CATS LYNX Blue Line Unit Vandalized

Wednesday's east bound NS 172(NEW ORLEANS, LA (UP QLINSL) - LINWOOD, NC) had a brand new LYNX Blue Line unit on the head end that the scum of this country managed to vandalize. Wonder why this unit wasn't plastic wrapped before it left Siemens manufacturing facility???

Pretty sure that was 172 , 172 normally has UP power

will the unit be returned to Siemens, or will they have a contractor etc buff out the damage?

I am pretty sure CATS is used to removing graffiti from other equipment and will do it themselves. Sadly, most transit agencies have experience.

There are compounds that will remove whatever that is quickly.
On the CTA Orange Line recently (February) there was a crew on
my car with paint brushes/paint and other supplies to cover up
paint vandalism.

We stopped between stations so crew could get off and paint over
another eyesore. CTA sends these employees out everyday system
wide to remove graffiti.

A better question would be, assuming it was a high priority shipment, why was it left standing still for someone to tag?

That tag isn't finished, so someone might have been stopped while doing it. That is only the first color in an undefined blob.

Bigger question is, what happened the the blue shipping condom???!!! Siemens always uses blue shrink wrap on their shipments, and they are not easily removed!

Siemens is responsible to deliver the product undamaged. Having experience in this area, I can assure you, this vehicle was shipped from Sacramento with the blue condom.

Do you know for an absolute fact it was indeed shipped covered? If so, the railroad has some explaining to do.
