The politicians will throw a few bucks at a "study" but make it sound like it is a go-ahead project.
And the politician in charge in this case, Kathleen Wynne, has a reputation for lying.

Once a route is determined the Nimbys and the tree huggers will delay things until well past my grandchildrens life time.

A lot could be done by improving the existing route, ie grade separation between London and Windsor but announcing a new bridge over the tracks at Pratt Siding, for example, does not get much media attention or buy many Toronto area votes for the provincial Fiberals, who probably will not get back into office after the next election here.

WOW!! High speed rail between Toronto and London by 2025!! What a project -- HSR up along the Saint Lawrence, under the Atlantic, across Ireland and into London in just eight short years!! Spectacular if it can be done.

Oh, wait, not London England ...

No, London, Kentucky!

Never heard the proposed  top  speed.  If  125  just stay on existing  right of  way  with a  new  track here  and  there.  Upgrades.    Avoid  lots of  bitching  'not  my  yard' etc. Certainly hope this  happens.  FREQUENCY and  check in at  stations  extremely important. Also.

Proposed top speed is 250 kph, per CBC newscast this morning.

will never be built, just another election "promise"

If you look at the Government of Ontario and their actions towards rail transit, it is wonderful. (I wish the State of Ohio even knew about trains).

You can read an impressive two pages of plans by the Gov. of Ontario for intercity, intracity, and urban transit.
