MBTA Fitchburg Line sighting GP18 & F40PHM-2C
Author: PRR-GG1

I am not sure running caused blood to stop flow to my brain but saw the following today in Belmont at Blanchard Road Crossing.
GP18 Long hood forward, Kawasaki control,3 coaches and F40PHM-2C Training. This would have made a great picture but so close to North Station there was no where to catch this.
Earlier this week MBTA/FRA was handing out Operation Life Saver Packets to motorist that use the Blanchard St crossing. This is one of the "smart" quite no horn zone that are in place.
Add on top of this, ongoing BEC Electrical upgrade has created a work area 50 yards from the double track high speed crossing. Earlier in the year a car stopped due to construction
was caught between gates and tracks, thankfully no life was lost. Could have been worse as the driver was last to leave and the train crossed on opposite side track.
Was wondering if this was just a very unusual catch or there was some thought of this route powered on both ends, say long hood forward!

Sounds like you caught the Northside work train bringing some bad-order equipment back from the layover at East Fitchburg. Somewhat unusual, but it does happen.

Layover is at Wachusett now. East Fitchburg is MOW and freight only now.
