Passenger Trains > See Through SiemensDate: 06/27/17 21:07 See Through Siemens Author: WP17 A couple of days ago, cajon posted shots of two Siemens Charger units in Chicago. His posting reminded me that in mid May I saw the 4611 in the Chicago yard shortly after dusk. I realized you can actually see completely through the unit at the huge radiator grill on the rear flank of the locomotive.

The original Eurostar E300 trains had side grills similar to this. A few years ago during a snowstorm in France a whole lot of snow got sucked into the power cars. Once the train entered the warmer Channel Tunnel the snow melted shorting out both power cars .... oops. Now it was Siemens that built the new E320 Eurostar trains so maybe just maybe they remembered that incident .... maybe. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/28/17 11:45 by 3rd_Raton. |
