FL-Woman killed in Brightline incident
Author: Lackawanna484

Police are investigating a death on the tracks as a probable suicide. A woman stepped onto the tracks in Boca Raton.

Looks like the Green set. Condolences to the family and sympathies for the crew and responders.

If the woman walked in front of train to commit suicide on what grounds could her family sue Brightline?

Not all lawyers are ambulance chasers or scumbags. I have dealt with some good ones and some that are not so good. And I am not a lawyer!

Well there is a teenage boy that had both legs get cut off because he was tresspassing and he is filing a lawsuit against everyone blaming everyone but him: No fences, no signs, no camera on the locomotive that could have allowed the enginer to have seen him earlier, not enough horn blowing, etc etc.

Braught to you by the local scumbag lawyer.

A hungry lawyer might try "attractive nuisance".

Attractive nuisance can be very lucrative in court. The property owner has to prove they actually secured their property, not the other way around. Anybody who has a swimming pool knows how that works.

Yet I see no significant trends indicating swimming pool accidents are on a major decline. Neither are the trespasser/railroad accidents.

One idealism taught in school is that lawsuits are supposed to act as a deterrent against repeat accidents, and I see no sign of that happening. Seems catering to the lawsuits (fencing up, cameras, security guards, etc.) is just a waste. Not trying to undermine programs like Operation Lifesaver, but overall, you can't sue to stop a society from degenerating.

Not disagreeing with you, but many juries see a jackpot in any lawsuit. Stick it to the man and all that nonsense.

So true, that's why those Metrolink Hulks stayed behind Costco for 5 years!
