Passenger Trains > Morning rush hour casualty on Metra-UP North LineDate: 07/26/17 14:28 Morning rush hour casualty on Metra-UP North Line Author: illini73 Around 8 a.m. this morning, Metra-UP North Line train #320 struck an 82-year-old female pedestrian at the Central Avenue grade crossing in Wilmette, IL. This train does not stop in Wilmette; the Central Avenue crossing is at the south end of the station platform; reports indicate the pedestrian walked around the lowered gates into the path of the train. The police investigation closed the line for two hours. Improvised Metra service was provided between Evanston (to the south of Wilmette) and Chicago during the closure.
