Passenger Trains > Steak Dinner at Reading, KSDate: 07/27/17 07:43 Steak Dinner at Reading, KS Author: SandHouseTalk but maybe hamburger steaks as 4(25) struck a loaded cattle truck. Bumps and bruises to the engineer. Lead locomotive (AMTK 130) will probably need to be set-out.

Especially since I liked those movies. Date: 07/27/17 12:27 Re: Steak Dinner at Reading, KS Author: dcfbalcoS1 Ah yes, the media reports on the 'Amtrak driver' . So many know so little about so much.
Date: 07/27/17 14:05 Re: Steak Dinner at Reading, KS Author: NKP715 I recall seeing an SP unit in El Paso,
that had suffered a similar fate. It was sitting by its lonesome in an obscure part of the yard, "airing out." Quite a bit of the "residue" remained. Date: 07/27/17 15:29 Re: Steak Dinner at Reading, KS Author: mp51w The Channel 13 WIBW TV news anchor called it an Amtrak commuter train on the 5:00pm news!
He's also referred to it as the Super Chief in past news stories. LOL! Date: 07/27/17 16:03 Re: Steak Dinner at Reading, KS Author: mp51w There is no street Google view, but it's undoubtedly a crossbuck protected track.
Also, driving Northbound on road X, it's @ 1000ft downhill drop on a gravel road, with trees somewhat obstructing the view of a track coming in at a bad angle. No excuse, but I can see the perfect storm. Usually traversed at night, for some of the Amtrak engineers, the Topeka subdivision is almost one continuous horn blast. This accident makes that practice perfectly clear to me. I hope all of the head end crew are OK, and glad it didn't turn out worse as it certainly could have. Posted from iPhone Date: 07/27/17 21:50 Re: Steak Dinner at Reading, KS Author: Margaret_SP_fan I'm so glad no one was badly injured or killed
in this collision, except some of those poor cattle. I wonder how Amtrak will manage to clean the residue off that locomotive. And did the other locomotive and any of the cars end up with residue also? If so, will Amtrak clean that off? If so, when?
