Passenger Trains > AAPRCO Excursion Today On CSX & Adirondack Scenic

I caught the AAPRCO charter today on CSX at Big Nose Curve, Yosts, NY and again on the Adirondack Scenic in Forestport, NY.

The excursion departed Albany this morning headed for Thendara, NY on the Adirondack Scenic.

The train came off CSX in Utica. Thendara is approx 52 miles north of Utica.

The special will return to Utica today and will overnight there as well.

Incidental views are presented of Amtrak 280 at Big Nose Curve and Adirondack Scenic's regularly scheduled 9:30 am train out of Utica.

UT-1: magnificent on all counts! Great train AND scenery shots.

The Forestport Trestle shots, includng the scenic intro showing the beauty of it, were wonderful.

Big Nose curve, on the old NYCRR mainline at Yosts, is at an interesting place: at one time, in the space across the Mohawk Valley of about 1/4 mile, had NY 5, NYCRR, Mohawk River, Erie/Barge Canal, New York Thruway (I-90), NY 5 S, and the NYWS&BRR (West Shore).

Also, got my feet wet as I waded into the Little Woodhull to encamp on this tiny island to await the special.
