Passenger Trains > [FL] Miami Metro-RailDate: 09/18/17 20:54 [FL] Miami Metro-Rail Author: Lackawanna484 Miami has a subway-like elevated rail system which links the south suburbs, and downtown with separate destinations of the airport and the western suburbs. Not unlike a Y. Third rail system on a mostly elevated right of way.
In an unusual approach, the northern branch of the rail system connects with regional passenger rail provider at Hialeah Market, while the southwestern branch connects at Miami Airport. On Tri-Rail, these points are about 8 miles apart. Picture 1 - an incoming Orange / Airport train arrives at the airport station. Tri-Rail's terminal is visible to the right. Picture 2 - interior of a MetroRail car. Lots of space for wheel chairs, bikes, etc. All stations have elevators, although several were out of service today.
