Where are the surviving MARC GP40WH-2s ?
Author: DevalDragon

It's been several years since Marc retired their GP40WH-2 locomotives.

I know MARC kept #68 and CSX has 69, now CSXT 9969.

Are there any other survivors, either running or in storage?

MBTA in Boston was using 5 or 6 of them on lease a few years ago. I don't know where they ended up, other than not anywhere in the Boston area.

Didn't they go to Boise and get MP-Series Cabs to run on Sun Rail?

Of the 19 GP40WH-2s built, MARC retains the 1, CSX has 1 and 10 were rebuilt for SunRail as MP32PH-Qs. The others reportedly went back to Boise and may be stored there.

MBTA had 5. Two were sent to a scrapyard outside Philly, other three went to Boise, their status is unknown.
