Good Morning America... Charger Chases Grain Empties Out Of Town

Most mornings these days I am at the former I.C. passenger station in Carbondale, Illinois, at 6am. At 7:30, the northbound Saluki departs for Chicago.

Every now and then the perfect combination of lighting and operations present themselves, and this morning I had some gear in the storage room from some location filming earlier in the week.

Neat video... but does this indicate that at departure, the Saluki was immediately stuck behind the empty grain train?

Nope. The grain train was running on an approach to North Carbondale while 390 left on a clear. They weren't in that much of a rush to move a trainload of sailboat fuel.

Speaking of "sailboat fuel," there are three "empties" at the rear of the Amtrak train as well.

I am surprised the CN did not stab Amtrak for the grain train. It is their usual daily practice and thus Amtrak trains are usually late on CN.
