SEPTA Regional Rail Grade Crossing Accident
Author: Chooch

Two days ago their was a grade crossing accident with a SEPTA RR train and automobile at the Rices Mil Rd. crossing in Jenkintown, PA. I didn't notice any posting on TO, did I miss a notice on this site?

Jim, I didn't see one at T.O. either. There don't seem to be many people here who are interested in (let alone well-versed with) SEPTA, which is unfortunate.

Jim, do you have any additional info? I'm familiar with that crossing having used it many times in my younger days. Years and years ago flashers were the only protection. I'd like to think there are gates in this day and age.

It was train 4213 from Warminster...the car was unoccupied, after the elderly gentleman, got out of the car safely...he had gotten confused and thought he was turning down a street and ended up on the tracks...most passengers walked to Jenkintown station to continue their trip downtown...
