Wow. It does look like something out of Europe. It just shows what a private company can do where the government fails (NJT and Amtrak being examples). I can't see why anyone would be opposed to this.

Aspects of this whole deal seem a bit...shady. it's far too early to see if it will succeed, financially. Remember X-train?

Keep in mind history, both Amtrak and NJTs territories, were operated by private carriers for decades, and it failed miserably.

X-Train didn’t even move a piece of dirt. I’ve done two round trips on Brightline and it doesn’t compre to any Amtrak service (outside of Acela) or commuter rail in this country.
