Classic, oldie-but-goody question: losing time ALB-SDY
Author: RevRandy

Last night was just one more example of a pattern -- #49 losing about an hour between Albany and Schenectady, despite all the money spent on the second track to avoid such delays.

Speculative answers:

A) the trip up West Albany hill was too much and they had to bring in a Mohawk class steamer as helper
B) they left the Albany station and dwelt for an hour at the Rensselaer shops for some mechnical reason
C) the Livingston Avenue bridge could not clear its signal
D) snow was falling
E) new second track out of service for unknown reasons/new track signals dark
F) because they could
