Passenger Trains > #42 on the FlipDate: 01/20/18 15:24 #42 on the Flip Author: BoilingMan As I posted the other day: What goes down, must come up.
I shot the 42 yesterday on #5, so odds were I'd see the 42 on #6 today. Sure enough! (Sometimes Oakland will keep a unit off the Zephyr for it's own trains and return a P-42 back to Chicago on #6. So the turn isn't a sure thing) Anyway, I set up for a shot of the 42 splitting the Highway 40 Sequoias just East of Towle, CA (Pop. Nada). The old US 40 passes under the RR here. The Towle Brothers NG logging road would have intersected the SP near here too in the late 1800's going up Canyon Creek, but I'm not sure how (under, over, or a diamond) Hmmmm, I wonder if the old highway underpass was once the Towle Bros? I'll have to look into that. SR Update: I looked into it- The Towel Bros stayed just above the SP and didn't actually cross it. Huh. Whadda ya know... Edited 1 time(s). The deep blue sky, the paint scheme of the engine and the trees. Nicely done! Posted from Android |
