American rail travel reached its zenith in the late 1940's and 1950's. Look at the room the Pennsylvania RR offered aboard COLONIAL CRAFTS. She entered service on the Pennsylvania Railroad at Chicago, IL, on 4 June 1949. The car was one of eight three bedroom, drawing room buffet lounge cars which were part of a 95-car order placed by the railroad with car builder Pullman-Standard. Lounge area retains inviting atmosphere. You don't find spacious lounges riding most passenger trains or flying in 2018!

The rails offered spacious accommodations back in the day!
